HSBC Credit Card

My bank has made me an offer based on the premiums paid on my credit card PPI over the last 6 years as they are only legally required to keep records for this length of time. I do not have any record of the previous 14 years that I have paid PPI, should I accept their offer.

should I accept their offer.
Without statements, there is no way to prove what, if anything, you paid.
We have seen a few banks make goodwill payments guessing at an amount. However, most don't. We have seen people post on here that in their case, the FOS would only agree to what could be shown by statements.
So, its up to you really. You can refer it to the FOS and wait 3-36 months for a response that may or may not increase the offer. Or you may prefer to ask HSBC to increase it with a goodwill payment of £250 (even if its just £250, that is still cheaper than the £500 they would be charged if you went to the FOS).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Thanks for that, I think I will try and get a good will payment and will let you know the result. Cheers.0
