Nokia N8 - upgrade lost contacts

Hi, my husband did a software upgrade on his nokia n8 through nokia suite on the pc and has lost all his contacts that were on the phone not the sim, there was no warning of this during the upgrade. Is there anyway he can get them back, or is there a backup anywhere to take it back to previous settings maybe or has he lost them all together ?

they always advise you do a back up before an upgrade of the phones software as it overwrite the phones data
its all lost unless he did a back up in the pastEx forum ambassador

Hi, when i look on our computer in the nokia suite file folder there is a back up, an .nbu file, how do i get that back onto the phone ? thanks0
