Have read some of your helpful posts. Sorry to hear of this, and a horrible shock for you. You sound like a kind and generous neighbour. Someone that he could rely on, and the main thing is that you found him so quickly. It's a dread of us lonely oldies that we will only be found weeks later. He had you in the latter part of his life as a super neighbour, and the best thing you have done for him was to find him quickly. As people are saying, at that age, you probably couldn't have helped him survive this, and any intervention might have been horrible and painful - who knows? He was lucky to have gone so quickly and not lingering in difficult and painful circumstances.

Nevertheless, such a shock for you, and your response is absolutely natural.

You were a true friend to him I am very sad for you You have always helped others on this site. Take care of yourself and I think the many helpful and kind comments of the forum readers will help you.
