OK I need some input.
Does anybody here have any experience with double barrel domain names and domains ending in -uk, ie: "domain-name-uk.com."
What's the rule of thumb? and is it likely to be affect internet searches?

Shouldn't really pose any problems - don't know what you mean by rule of thumb?
google search "site:*-uk.com" without the inverted commas and you find a list of them no problem.
Note: I can't say I would recommend trying to register sites like amazon-uk.com, dell-uk.com, dabs-uk.com, virgin-uk.com, vodaphone-uk.com etc and then sell them to the respective companies. But what you do is your own business. There is no intelligent life out there ... ask any goldfish!0 -

Yes lol, nothing like the above, There is no company registered on the internet with the same domain name that I am looking at, but the domain name minus the -uk is only available for back order....:(To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0 -
Well get it on back order ASAHP (as soon as humanly possible)
That's how I got my Domain name (my actual full name .com & .co.uk) the person who owned the .com didn't re-register it, so after 90 days it went back on the market and as i was the first in line with a back order i got first refusal.
So i got it!!
Now there's a Real-Estate mogal in Canada needing a new Domain name to sell houses... ^_^ he! he!Laters

No it won't affect anything SEO related. Google is smart enough to figure it out.
Content is king. If you have content domain names become almost irrelevant. Many businesses are ranked top with the business name being their name. For example davidandbobaccountant etc.
The domain name is just another point google take into account. Of course, this is not fact merely knowledge gained from research into other peoples trial and error due to SEO being black magic
Google is smart enough to know ' - ' doesn't have any relevance in domain names.
Thanks,Just another dumbass with money...

The uk.com domain name shouldn't affect anything on your SEO. I take it your intended audience is the UK?
The only thing with a uk.com is that if you are expecting a fair amount of direct traffic then you should back- order your co.uk or .com extension - most people if going direct to a website will try these first.
