British Gas Home Alarm

Hi there

When I bought my house a few years ago it had a British Gas Home Security System installed. It was a monitored system and would call out either the police or fire brigade if required. After a couple of years I couldn't afford the monthly fees and cancelled the contract and stopped using the alarm. The batteries have since all died off and the panel shows just a trouble sign.

Does anyone know if I can get someone out to set it up again and use it as an unmoitored system, or am I stuck with having to get a contract again.

Thanks
xxxdxxx

Are there any model numbers on the alarm panel or keypad?

Can you post pictures of the keypad and alarm panel. It'll help identify if it is a generic system.

It says it is a DSC Alarm, no model number. Sorry I cannot post a photo.

ill have a look through my manuals, ( im a fire and security engineer ) see if ive got any info on them.
some of the badged panels ( yours will be ) use aa battries in the detectors or a small camera type

you should be able to use it as a stand alone alarm, just disconnect the telephone line to the panel to avoid any unessary calls to the ARc( alarm reciving centre) they usually use perminum rate numbers to dial out

EDIT- had a look ive got the user manual for the DSC panel. if that would be any help to you.

OK, I believe DSC is a Tyco alarm.

See if you can find the manual for your model here:

  • Dynorod will come out. They came and replaced all my batteries and sorted out the 'trouble' flashing light earlier this year and serviced it.
Can't remember the cost but it was quite pricey.
They do have packages for annual services etc.

Dyno Rod is now owned by British Gas.

They may be using that brand for alarm servicing now.
