EDF to ScotishPower?

My EDF Online saver 7 (dual fuel) expiring today and this is the first time i'm using comparison site like SimplySwitch which is giving following options:
firstUtility ==> £141 increase [Not interested due to high standing charges]
ScotishPower ==> £161-168 increase [Seriously considering it]
nPower ==> £173 increase [Not considering due to their CS]
Rest are above £200 increase, so no point in going with them.
Last year consumption (KWh):
Elec = 2043w
Gas = 12365
My questions:
1) How's scotish power?
2) EDF expiring tonight so shall i switch using SimplySwitch(£40 cashabck) online today or shall i call scotishpower/edf before doing switch and is there any other thing i've missed?
3) Anyone here has got any idea how long it takes switching from EDF to ScotishPower?
Thanks,
Faraz

I initiated my switch on 2nd December fron EDF to Scottish Power.
It was through energyhelpline.com as there was a £40 cachback per fuel offer on at the time.:D
My supply is due to change on the 16th January, so no early termination fee from EDF for leaving before the 31st December.:D
Rang EDF on the 11th December to tell them I am going and that I want them to hold my OS7 prices until my transfer is complete, which they agreed to. As Scottish Power contacted them within 15 days of my notification they will hold my OS7 prices until I leave.:D
So far Scottish Power seem fine but in reality they are all as bad as one another, so eventually they will let me down and it wont surprise me

It means Scottish Power is the best option for me, and i've missed the good deals

Typical switch timing is 4 to 6 weeks, if you wanted to avoid a month or more on EDF's Standard tariff then you should have initiated the switch at the start of December. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Yes you're right i'm too late in doing the switch, in fact i did the comparison again today with my new tarrif (edf standard) and i'm not getting much savings in switching to Scotish or any other provider as it's hardly up to £30 a year. I think i'm better off staying with EDF provided the hassle you go in switching.
Thanks,

But Standard is almost the most expensive of any supplier'soptions...if you are not switching supplier, at least use EDF's cheapest tariff. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Agreed, but strangly EDF has pulled all thier online products the only options i've now is either Standard or the Fixed tariff. I'll call them tomorrow to find out.0

Indeed you are correct.
It looks highly significant that most of the fixed and discount deals ended at the end of dec, but all the best replacement deals were pulled before then.
No consolation to you but the lesson is dont wait to the last 2 weeks to switch. edf pulled the 'Fix for 2012' tariff around the second week in dec. If you had switched to that early dec you would prob ably have paid £10-20 more than on OS7 but would now have the benefit for the next year.0 -
I would never recommend Scottish Power.
I am looking to leave them once my fixed term is up after 11 years.
Customer service is terrible - they ignore what you say.
They love your money in their bank account.
They will fleece you at any opportunity.0 -

 you had an eleven year deal with them
Was it fixed for 11 years :T
And............
From experience they are all as bad as one another for customer service... it just about getting the best deal, then jump ship and get a better one when the time is up....
And........
Im sure they ALL love our money in their bank account :rotfl:0 -
Sadly none of the other suppliers are paragons of customer service virtue..... Beware frying pans and fires.
Mind you after 11 years with one firm maybe a change would be good! (did you mean 11 months?)0
