TPS Parking fine

I have today recieved a letter from TPS (Total Parking Solutions) asking for £70.00 for parking at Dunelm in Crewe on 09.12.12. they say they wrote to me on the 14th, I have not received any correspondence other than the letter today! They have pictures of the front, rear, & number plate of my car and state that I was 36 minutes over my allowed time. You do not need a ticket on this car park although they do have signs up. I did shop in dunelm that day along with other stores but I cannot find receipts.
Do I have to pay this, are TPS a legal company?

Ignore it. They'll send more letters threatening x, y and z but nothing will happen. You are not legally obliged to pay them.
ETA: plenty about TPS on the pepipoo forums, so if you need reassurance you can also go thereAs of 30/12/10: Mortgage [STRIKE]28,000[/STRIKE] 26,000 SLoan[STRIKE] 9,000[/STRIKE] 7000, CC [STRIKE]8000[/STRIKE] 5020, car [STRIKE]21,000[/STRIKE] 16,000. Total [STRIKE]66,000[/STRIKE] 46,015.67

No, just ignore whatever they send you. They are a private parking company therefore they have no authority to issue 'fines'
This is simply an unenforceable invoice. You will receive lots of correspondence, as I said, ignore it. They will eventually give up.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
TPS are a 'real company', just as all the private parking scumbag 'jump-on-the-moneymaking-bandwagon' firms are. But that doen't make their industry any less full of scammers and it doesn't make their fake PCNs enforceable.
The stickies you should read are 'PPC letters, what to expect' and 'welcome, please read before posting' with the Watchdog youtube clip. Those are the only stickies you need to look at to understand this scam and to have your preview of the letters you will be ignoring.
It really is simple to ignore this scam, just like deleting a series of pathetic phishing emails.
Most on here have ignored a fake PCN or ten and ignoring the letters is easy. Nothing else happens, TPS do not do Court they just do mail threatograms as shown in the top thread. Then they crawl back under their stone to hassle another potential victim less clued-up than you.
The only other thing I would say is you may like to complain (not appeal the fake ticket) but COMPLAIN in Dunelm about their use of a protection racket in the car park against paying customers. It's bad enough all year round but to restrict people to the same maximum time at Christmas shopping peak times - when there are busier aisles, fuller trollies, more shopping to get done and longer queues - is scandalous and sharp practice. Tell the Store Manager what you think about getting all these pathetic but intimidating threats just for parking and spending money in their store.
We did have a previous thread a year ago about a fake ticket in a Dunelm car park and the lady complained and they got the PPC to stop sending the letters. And I personally know of a case near me where an old lady got a fake PCN in Dunelm car park and when her neighbour complained on the old lady's behalf, again they got the fake rubbish cancelled.
There's really no need to worry if they don't cancel it but complaints to the retailer should be acticely encouraged. We want the retailers to realise the detrimental effect on customers that having a PPC on site causes. Lots of complaints will hit home, will be noticed.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Most likely that car-park had a stupid "max" time allowed policy of 1 hour.
If it belongs to a retailer (I'm assuming Dunelm is Dunelm Mill), than complain to the retailer stating that you will take your buisness elsewhere, and to rub it in if you have any outstanding orders cancel them on grounds of "having to pay them for spending to much in store"0
