Found your thread in a quiet moment at work and was transported back through your words to my early days with LOs' and that all emcompassing situation that takes over your life and i just wanted to reach through and give you a hug :kisses3:

My "LO's" are now 15 and 13 next week - and I am still muddling along so, if I might be so bold, here are

A Few Thoughts From a Baby Years Survivor!

1, First of all, (and this goes to all the people who are knee deep in babies):j YOU ARE AMAZING!!!! :jand you are doing amazing things! Missymoo, that you are doing all this without your OH around, well, hats off to you!! It was a struggle for me with OH and family around!
Having a baby is such a total change to your life, nothing can really prepare you for how overwhelming it is

2, We never got given the manual for either of our little boys when we bought them home so were never sure why they were doing what they did!! Still not sure where the manuals are! And all the "baby raising" books, seemed to say something different. :huh:All I can say is, find someone - and this goes for HV's too - who's style you like and who says what you are comfortable with and stick with them - barring any urgent medical matters I think.

3, Going to Mum and Baby groups and finding them a bit cliquey? For this I have to apologise on behalf of all Mum's -I think! :embarasseI am sure that no one means to shut anyone out but sometimes we get there, maybe the only chance we've had to talk to another grown up, and talk to the people we know and we forget to check that we are including new people. Also, once my boy1 was moving he was a bit of a terror so I always had one eye on him and I'm sure it looked like I was ignoring people. Keep trying, some of my best friends now are people I met at baby groups.

Just keep going, hook up with people you've seen before or like the look of and keep trying different places if you're not comfortable at the first places you go to. Good conversation starters are - Oo pretty dress/cute top where did you get it? or there's always the weather! Try baby groups wherever you found them - I found churches often had groups running with no obligation to go to the church and they were often run by lovely older ladies who would take care of us:)

4, Sicky baby + breast-feeding! I remember this well!! :eek:To the extent that I used to take a change of clothes for him and one for me!! (Sorry, not sure that's what you want to hear!) It does get better though - he did grow out of it. You sound like you're doing all the right things, just keep trying

5, Food for you, there's some really good advice on here especially batch cooking so there's always something in the freezer for those days you don't want to cook and menu-planning so you always have something in
Don't forget, baked beans on wholemeal toast with some cheese on top is a complete meal so it doesn't have to be fancy. Soup is also good - if you can make it, all the better! My stand by lunch at the moment is a cup-a-soup with some noodle in! Makes me feel better than a sandwich!

I would love to reach through the screen and give you a hug - especially at this sad time for your family

Enjoy your Baby Roo's smiley lovely moments - it won't be long before he's taller than you and your problem is how to keep the fridge full!:rotfl:

    All the best

Sezza my love, bless you, you are an angel! Thank you do much for taking the time to write such lovely things and do helpful too! It makes me feel so much better, and Ive said this before to know that I'm not the only one who had found having a new baby hard, and trying to figure out what in the world could be causing the little cherub to be screaming quite so loudly! Thank you my dear x

Well I went to see my mum, she's doing ok, I'm going to go and keep her company next week when her husband goes ack to work, unfortunately there are already ructions starting in the family with concerns and differences of opinions, I hate anything like this, why can't people just get on! It makes me very cross!

Anyway, I'm just at my dads feeding the boy, then we're nipping to matalan as the boy needs another sleeping bag as we don't have a tumble dryer and one just isn't enough when roo is so sick all of the time.

Going to make some sample cupcakes tomorrow to try put some new styles and recipes, will take pictures and post if I can work out how to do it. Would love to send out some tasters but I don't think
Decorated cupcakes travel too well unfortunately. Really looking forWard to making the mini ones though. Oh and I've got a huge cupcake mould which I need to test out! Trouble is I think we'll be eating cupcakes for a week, as there's only me and oh, again it's such a shame all you lovely girlies don't live closer, as we could have had a lovely afternoon tasting session. I'm thinking chocolate, vanilla and lemon as staple flavours, I was thinking of maybe doing, carrot cake and lavender and lemon and poppy seed, what do you think, any other ideas? I'd really appreciate your input :) I can't wait to get my website sorted do I can show you all x

Ditto on the carrot cake!! And chocolate!! Yum!! Lavender sounds interesting. :D Can't wait to see some photos! Did you check out the page I recommended on facebook? She makes beautiful looking cakes and I noticed today she is now offering a 'travelling teacher' service - something else for you to think about!

Sorry to hear there are family politics ... not that it helps but it's the same in every family! Hope your mum's ok. xx

Awww lovelies, if I could send some cupcakes to you I would. No loumac I haven't yet, have saved the link and am going to do website research over the weekend, I'm thinking of a pink and cream stripy theme, with a 1940s twist. :)

Am just at a friends feeding the boy, my friend has just come back from the gum though, looking all skinny, I feel like a right fatty, pretty sure I won't have lost any weight this week, in fact I've prob put on :( its so hard with OH here, really need to pull my finger out next week! X

Morning, well roo slept extremely well, and only woke up at 5.30 but we didn't go to bed until 12. This would have meant really good sleep if OH hadn't been snoring his head off all night! Grrrrrr!

well just feeding the hungry boy, hes just had a sleep and ive managed to get some jobs done. so far i have:

    washed up
    dried up
    loaded the DW
    unloaded the WM
    wiped the worktops
    cleaned the cooker
    tidied the hallway
    tidied the living room
saves some food from going off by putting it in the freezer

still have some jobs to do but that will do for now.

not going out anywhere today, although, oh's cousin and his family are popping round this afternoon am still exhausted as per usual, but thats just normal life now!!! OH is outside b£$$%^ing about with cars, does it sound horrible that i wish he'd just show his appreciation a little bit for what i'm doing, his life pretty much goes on as normal, and mine doesnt. not that id change me and roo's little life for the world, i just wish OH would realise how bl00dy hard it is sonetimes!!

sorry for the rant am just tired :(

Hun, I have to say, that would be the same if OH were around more! Mine comes in from work and huffs around like he's had a hard day, tells me how tired he is, rolls his eyes if I ask him to do anything etc. I'm not sure how he thinks those clean clothes keep magically appearing in his wardrobe, or how the dishes get washed and back in the cupboard. Oh and those fairies that strip and change the bed they're amazing. All alongside a happy, well fed baby girl! ;)
