New quilt cover - colour has run.

Options
I bought a new quilt cover on the 23rd December. I washed it today and the colour has run. It was cream with a red section now its different shades of light pink with a red section. I washed it as indicated on the instuctions.
The problem I have is I can't find the receipt and have taken the packaging to the tip. Can I just take the quilt to the shop from which I bought it and see if they will refund or offer alternative?

P.S Does anyone want a cream/ pink fitted sheet and pair of pillow cases as theses also got ruined.

  • You can certainly try taking it back! Problem you sometimes get with regards to colours running, shrinkage and the like is at a store level they can't tell how the item was washed so they may want to send it to their CS dept to be tested.

As you said though, without proof of purchase (although if you paid by card then a statement should suffice) it becomes more difficult, at the very least it stops them knowing how much you paid and if the item has gone down it's not fair to expect them to give you the higher amount on your say so.

As I said to another poster, unfortunately (through no fault of their own) store staff normally have restrictions on returns so that people higher up have to have the final say. Might be worth finding out if they have a customer service department and just go straight through them.

I did pay by card so I can print a statement off. The shop is Asda and I have tried to phone with no joy so I am going to be brave and go in the morning.
  • Any luck??
