Garden Structure

I had a supporting structure (wooden pillars and planks on the top) blown over by the storm on 18th of Jan. My home insurance document says that fences, hedges and gates are not covered. It also says that the garden furniture is not covered. However there is no mention about damage to such garden structures (supporting running plants) and planks providing shade in the garden. Would the insurance company pay for this ?
I would appreciate any suggestion(s) on this
Thanks in Advance

saying who the insurer is so that people can read the policybook would be usefulAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

If it is a *fixture* such that it is so attached to the land that it would be unreasonable to remove it if you moved home, then it is likely to be insured as part of the building. It would not classify as 'garden furniture' which really refers to freestanding chairs and tables and the like.
It rather depends on how structural this thing is and what is involved in repairing it - if the costs are relatively low, it may not be worth bothering with a (small) claim...0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the responses.
The insurance company is Heath Lambert Insurance Services.
The Structure is permanent and I would not be able to take it with me, if I moved. It covers an area of around 12 ft x 2 ft in the garden. Also I called up a builder to look at it. He suggested the cost of repair at around 500-600 quid. He said , he would need to replace one of the wooden pillars as it is broken and get the whole thing back to shape.0 -
If the insurance company pays for the claim, would it affect my future premiums for the insurance ? Would it affect my insurance policy in any case ?0
