Replace woodburner with gas fire

My parents have moved into a bungalow which has a woodburner in the lounge. They are quite elderly and have decided they would prefer the convenience of a gas fire and have asked me to make the change.

I have no intention of doing the work myself but before contacting a professional, I'd like to know what would be involved. There is a nearby gas point and the chimney already has a liner for the woodburner.

Is it just a case of removing the woodburner and fitting a gas fire or would the liner have to be replaced? The liner is only a year or two old.

Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer.

Mike
