DVD copying problem

Hi.
I recently downloaded the free Ashampoo software that was on one of the threads on here.
The first time I used it to copy a DVD it worked ok but each attempt after that caused my computer to shut down. I thought it was a problem with this programme so I deleated it.
I have now been using CloneDVD2. The first time I copied a 30 minute film and it worked ok. I then tried with a 180 minute film and the computer keeps shuting down after about 45% is read.
Does anyone know why this keeps happening.
Thanks.

Your PC may be set to Shut Down when it encounters an error e.g. blue screen of death. To check this, right click on the <My Computer> icon and then <Properties>, click on the <Advanced> tab and then the <Settings> button in the <Startup & Recovery> section, check if the <Automatically Restart> checkbox is ticked in the <System Failure> section.
You can also try the following.
1) Different disks
2) Trial of Nero
3) Memory check - Download memtest86
4) CPU Temperature - Download Speedfan
5) Check the Event Log to see what happened - Go to <Start Menu>, <Run> then type in eventvwr. Click on <Application> on the left hand side and check for any red x's0 -
I tried the first suggestion and the automatically restart checkbox is ticked.
1) It shuts off when the original film is in there so I haven't put a disk in yet to copy on.
2) I have Nero 7 and the same thing happens with this.
3) Downloaded but don't know how to get it to work.
4) Waiting for it to download.
5) Event log says - Application hang. Category - 101. Event - 1002.
Thanks for your help.0 -
Once you've downloaded the memtest zip file you have to burn the iso file to a cdrw. Once in Nero burning program, go to the Recorder menu and select Burn Image, then select the extracted iso file.
Then you will have to boot from that cd (you can change boot order in the bios) and the program will test your memory.
You might want to try selecting a slower speed when trying to copy it.
If it still isn't working you might want to look into using DVD Shrink and/or DVD Decrypter.0
