Hi all,

A bit of advice before I send an email off to them.

My partner recently won a competition and on the card it states a meal for two at the verve grill.

We turned up last night to claim this "meal for two" only to be told its a buy one get one free on a main meal only.

Nothing on the card ie t&c's to say this....

Immediately sprung to mind that this was definately a case of false advertising...I didnt push the issue last night as the restaurant manager was already very arsey when speaking to us about it.

In the end I didnt use the voucher !

Who ran the competition? (There should be T&Cs listed there).

I'd be writing to (or emailing) De Vere, who own the Village group of hotels, and asking to see a copy of the terms and conditions of that competition. Their postal address is below.

If it turns out that the T's and C's state the same as the manager said, then I'd question why those terms weren't on the voucher - or at least why the voucher didn't point me to where those terms were written (a webpage for example). If they DON'T match what he said then I'd complain.

I presume it was offer 6, which to be fair does clearly state that it's a BOGOF. I'd say your only real avenue of complaint is why you weren't made aware of it at the time.

That said, you did WIN the prize in a competition. Unless you shelled out thousands to enter then however mis-worded the voucher may be, I'm not sure I'd complain. Lets face it, you might not have won anything at all!

which is the competition i found the terms too, how can the OP claim a prize BEFORE the competition closes

Yes all the t&cs that i found were for the latest comp.

The meal for two on the winning card is totally misleading, why not just put 2for1
