I recently purchased an IPOD Touch which came with a free docking station as part of the purchase. They advertised that the docking station was worth £60.This was an online purchase.
When we plug in the docking station it appears to have no power at all as it will not switch on.
I have been in contact with the supplier and they have said the docking station is now out of stock and no more will be coming in. They have advised me to send the docking station in to be checked with a view to repair, however, thay have not said what will happen if they cant fix it.
What are my rights to regards a replacement should it be unrepairable?
Thank you

if they cannot replace the actual station they should provide you with another docking station similar in cost and specification of the one which is faulty.0

It is very important to know what the exact wording of the advertisement is and how they described the deal. Can you post a link?
What is the make and model of the dock? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Your statutory rights allow a repair, refund or replacement. A straight replacement is not available, so if they can't repair it I think you probably have two options:
A refund (you would need to return the ipod in this case as well)
Appeal to goodwill and try and agree an alternative dock of at least as good specifications to be sent as a replacement (from their point of view, at least they'll still have the sale)Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0 -

The link is nologer available but its this:
Hmdx Ipod & Iphone Speaker Dock Buy Ipod Touch With Docking Station And Get Dock Free
It did state that should the Ipod be returned then the free gift also had to go back aswell, which we fully understood.
However, the problem is the docking station is faulty and the Ipod and the docking station were given as a xmas gift.0 -

I'm not sure if i would class replacement of goods on a like for like basis as "goodwill". Providing the replacement docking station was of similar value and specifications then it would effectively be an acceptable remedy for a breach of contract as they would place the consumer in the same position they would be in had the contract been performed correctly. Providing it wasnt disproportionately costly compared to other remedies of course. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
