What the hell! - Clarks cannot offer anyone advice (apart from children!!)

Today I went Into my local clarks shoe shop to buy some new shoes. I picked up the shoes i liked, asked the sales lady to get them out the back and tried them on. She then asked me what i thought of them and i said they seem ok. I then asked her what she thought - ie, if they seemed the right fit, as i was going to get another size up but they did not have them in stock.

She then replied 'Im sorry i am unable to offer advice to anyone apart from children' - i.e advice on if the shoes seemed to be the right fit.

What the hell is going on? - Is it some sort of legal thing? It seemed very bizzare!

If the sales assistant would have said 'yep, they fit you fine' and then a week after wearing them you got huge blisters on your feet then you would have wanted a refund I imagine & blamed the sales assistant for giving you the wrong info?

    Thats why!

Clarks fit childrens shoes. If the shoes are fitted incorrectly then they will exchange or refund them.

As an adult you should be able to tell whether your shoes fit you or not. IF you are unsure then wear them around the house on the carpet for an hour and that will give you a firmer indication of whether they are going to rub or not.

A sales assistant at Clarks cannot fit adults shoes as we all wear shoes so differently it is impossible to advise whether a shoe is going to be comfortable or not.

A child is different. They are not able to tell themselves and also their feet are still growing so Clarks take responsibilty for that and fit with growing room and will change if they rub once worn.

Clarks would be refunding shoes left right & centre for adults if they exchanged them because they rubbed - it is your resposibilty as an adult to make sure they are correct before you wear them outside - only you know how you wear shoes and where they are more likely to rub/hurt.
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

Surely you'd know better than her as they were on your feet!

Trouble is we live in a culture nowadays where people are frightened !!!!less to say or do anything in case it is taken the wrong way.

Must say, the person I would trust most to decide if the shoes are comfy and fit is moi! :D
