Amaryllis Bulb in box - will it keep?
A few of us on the grabbit board have got these amaryllis bulbs.
They have no expiry date and say they need to be put in 21 degrees to bloom - so will we be able to keep them as gifts for others later in the year if they are kept in the cool please?

You can start them off as late as April, but they never (IMOP) flower as well. Check the bulbs aren't showing growth, as it can be warm in shops and once they are growing it is best to let them get on with it.0

For Christmas we got amaryllis in a glass pot from M&S.
When we opened it, it was already half grown with one stem reaching the top of the deep pot.
Check your amaryllis, it might not last until Mother's day and
in that case you could just give your Mum half grown plant.0 -
Thanks Nat - am reposting your reply onto the grabbit thread so the other people will know what to do!

Mine arrived today - with two long 'arms' about 15cm each - broken off and inside the box.
The bulb itself is very very dry - I really would not expect these to last any time at all - some might not even grown now,
If your thinking about giving it as a gift later in the year - i'd grow it now and give the blooming plant as the gift - don't risk the bulb.Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0
