What to ask when viewing

we are going to view a house tomorrow after nearly 5 months of searching and I'm sure this is the one. What questions do we need to ask to ensure that we become familiar with the property. We know the area well, so need to worry about that!

I've checked the ordnance survey map and discovered its northeast facing but it looks like it has a VERY long garden so could get some sun, so this would be an obvious question. What other questions should we ask? Sorry if this sounds stupid!
I wished the buck stopped here as I could use a few!

  • If you know the area and like the house then whether it gets the sun is the ONLY question to ask IMHO. I don't get the sun after 5pm (unless I sit out the front like a !!!!!!!!!), as I don't get in from work till after 7pm it's a real downer. I'd love to move but am determined to pay off all non-mortgage debt 1st.

Check out what's either side re tall trees etc that will cut out sun.

Oh, plus the obvious questions about how psychotic the neighbours are. And why they are moving.

    Good luck!

    Who lives next door?

How long have they lived there? What work have they done sinve they've been there.

Why are they moving? Have they found another house yet (if applicable) and how long is the chain above if they are buying.

When are they *hoping* to move?

People always ask what council tax band the house is in, but I can never see the relevance when you're spending that much money on a house! Would they refuse to make an offer if it were a band higher than they were hoping?!
