What were you charged with that made you resign so suddenly?

Unless my brain is doing double-takes, there is a "missing post" - I believe it said (but I may be wrong) that it was absence without leave. I could have sworn I read that here on this thread, but I am maybe confused.

Op has edited first post. I read the same thing this morning and you are correct.
Sometimes it seems that just when I think I have reached rock bottom, someone hands me a shovel.

To be fair, they are still entitled to be paid for the hours they have worked and holiday pay - but equally, an intemperate approach to getting a payment which has been promised may make the employer do a double-take on whether they could countersue for quantifiable losses arising from the absences.

op has deleted the long and ranty letter before action they were going to send their employer. Came between posts 2 and 3 originally. Just as well, I do hope they are not going to send it!

Oh I get that. It's just the irony of taking unauthorised leave (which, if taken as holiday would have avoided this whole situation anyway) then asking to be paid for holiday not taken... Quite bizarre.

Yes I have some sympathy with the view. But we don't know why it happened, just that it did. Perhaps they were kidnapped by aliens, slumped insensible at home, or something :)
