Well had a letter from Halifax as did hundreds of others no doubt about the changes to managing mortgage accounts. The mortgage has moved to a new mortgage system which means I should have more information about my account. Hopefully this means we can see a proper statement online like a bank account does. Cant see it at the moment as its not available yet.
They have then put my payments down to match the term left on their system which was 6 years 5 months. With my OPs I have the term left of 5yrs and 5 months. They had reduced my MP by £100.
A swift phone call and putting the term back at 5 yrs 4 months has put the payment back up to £718 (I was paying £710).
I have a new account number so had to change my OP details with my bank as well which was a pain but easily done online.
Have done an OP of £50 (along with a payment of £100 and £150 over past couple of weeks) Total OP this month £500MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

Hello,
Thanks for that info, we are also with the Halifax but have not heard anything yet about our payments, we currently have a standing order small op and then op by phone as and when so I am not actually sure what our standard payment should be. I do hope that the new online system will be better after the changes and allow us to op easily online.
Have a good weekend,
Squirrel:jPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
we got the letter this morning with a new number. annoying thing is i can ammend the new number in the bill payments section, had to add as a new payee.0

Yeah I just did a new payee and deleted the old one so I didnt do that one by accident. (Ive gone to transfer to my halifax account and done it to the mortgage in error before doh!)
It would be nice to be able to pay OPs from my halifax ac, its daft that you cant!!! I can from my other bank ac.MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

pammy, you can OP online via a Hal1fax account, or at least you could before these current changes so I'm hoping it's still going to be possible.
It was a bit of a faff to set up initially ~ you have to 'create recipient' from whichever account you want to OP from. Click the 'make a payment' rather than 'make a transfer' option to do this. When you create a recipient (your new mortgage account number) you get a 4 digit number on screen & then get an automated phone call from Hal1fax (make sure you're at home if they have your home phone number as a contact) to confirm you want to set up this recipient. Once that's done you can make an online OP.
To make an OP go to the account you want to OP from, choose the 'make a payment' option & your mortgage account number should come up as a 'recipient' option. Click on that & put in however much £ you want to OP. The money comes out of your OP account straightaway, but doesn't show up on your mortgage balance until the next day (longer if it's a weekend).
Hope that all makes sense?!
And after all that, the Hal1fax better not have changed it when we finally get our mortgage accounts back online!! Maybe do a small OP first, make sure it still works.'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
When I rang them to say I wanted to make OPs they said it wasnt possible! This was a long while ago, they may hav sorted it now then, will have a look, thanks. I normally just OP from my other main ac.
I always thought it was daft that you couldnt.
ETA - have added it now thanks Poppy, was very easy, just got a text confirming itNot sure whether I will use that account for it but good that its now set up

Have been very organised with my halifax accounts this morning. I have had to set up 2 DDs to go out of my reward account to keep my £5 a month reward so I have changed my account details online for my TV licence which was easy and I have set up a new cancer research DD online and cancelled the one from my original ac which was also very easy.
So another TO DO thing ticked off my list :jMPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

How is that lovely little doggy of yours doing?0 -
Oh hes a right royal pain in the behind!!! LOL Still in puppy stage.
He is not too bad at home, he knows I am boss and does as he is told. But outside the house, like at the park I am completely invisible if another dog is about! As for walking to heel, what is that??MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987
