Carp day, im being deregistered as a foster carer. They had already made up their minds before I'd even walked in the room, they used the relationship breakdown as an excuse, saying that we had given such a strong impression of a good relationship in july and by sept we had seperated, then we must of been lying and therefore I am not trustworthy. Gutted.

Nat :( I am so sorry.

I find that hard to believe! Relationships break up all the time! My friend has just texted me that her husband has dumped her from the other side of the world! They been together 18 years!

:( can you appeal against their decision? Show them proof that you are a strong Foster Parent, without having to have a partner? That you are managing perfectly well on your own?

My friend is a single parent and registered foster carer.

Thanks guys, yes I will be appealing. Theres an organisation for foster carers that work like CAB that will help me. That wasnt the only issue they had but the main one they just couldnt understand where I was coming from(they wanted to hold a contact meeting between baby and her parents in my daughters nursery, there are 5 other nurseries in our area. They would then find out that this was my kids school and that would be a confidentiality/security risk). Im pleased I didnt start crying, I could feel my cheeks getting really hot when they couldnt/wouldnt understand. I've rang the independant organisation and they have told me to wait for the offical paperwork to be delivered to say im deregistered before I ring them again. Im feeling happier that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel whatever the outcome, I just want this over and get on with my life. I will be distraught if this affects my application the the Police next year....

  • 8p in roadkill for me.

Also got my Amazon trade in labels printed off so need to package those books up and get them sent off this Saturday :) I think they've offered me about £79 so that will be a lovely start to the February target! Also going home to the parents next week for a few days - so planning on doing a blitz of the house to find all the other textbooks / books / CDs / clothes / shoes / accessories and other odds and sods that I have left lying around! My poor little one bed flat will be bursting - but it will all be sold in the end :-D

I am excited about the possibilities!

Only 2 more weeks of my course - which means only 2 more weeks of spending that I wouldn't normally be doing. I will be VERY pleased to see the end - loving the course, but not loving the cost!

So sorry to hear of the carpy times that other people are having - I hope things pick up for you all soon.

Nat, I'm so sorry to her that.

This whole thing has made me a bit angry since it was first a possibility that you might get de-registered. I don't know if it's the same across the country but I would imagine so - there are so many adverts and campaigns around here recently in a push to try and encourage people to be foster carers as there is a huge shortage. Yet then they go and treat the ones that they do have like this.
Of course I know it's massively important that only the right people are allowed to be foster parents, so yes it is important that there are procedures like this for when things go wrong, but it is awful for things which should not be an issue to lead to being de-registered.

Really hope things work out for you. What sort of time frame are you looking at for an appeals process? Do keep us posted of course.

    Hi

Best wishes to Nat and others who are having a tough time.

Thanks to GA for the formatting instructions, I have stretched as well!

Managed another small eb*y sale of £1.37, total is now £15.10 and I think that's going to be it for January...
Due to making daft rules for myself I can't add my TCB and coins until 1st Feb but things will look a little better then!
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.
