I am looking for a spreadsheet or indexed list of the total return of the FTSE 100, 250, or All-Share. Any or all of them would be fine.
It is very simple to find a list of capital value but not of historical dividend yield or total return. Best I've managed to find is a flash player graph of total return over 20 years, not very useful.

in other words, the index has risen
by roughly 502% over 27 years and
four months, which averages out at
a gain of nearly 7% a year. Add in an
extra, say, 2.5% a year for dividends
and the FTSE 100 has generated an
average annual return of over 9%
since 1984.

What about since 1999 when the FTSE100 reached it's peak ? How do we know that dividends have averaged 2.5% pa ?No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

There is an index which covers FTSE 100 index + divs.
The ticker is UKX.TR or UKXNUK.L on Yahoo
Unfortunately I don't think it is freely available anywhere and Yahoo data is very limited.
