Car Damaged While in Garage - do i have a leg to stand on?

    Legally, garage A are liable for the cost. You need to prove the damage was caused by them - a written report from garage B may suffice for this. Garage A won't pay up without a fight, so you might need to go to small claims court and there's still no guarantee you'd win.

    There's a strong chance you would also have needed to let Garage A know there was a problem to give them a chance to fix it themselves. Garage B is run by his friend so hardly independent thus not suitable to produce the written report, and even if it was independent, it is still one garage VS another. If he won it would be a bit of a shock to be honest...
