BT Forcing Paper Free Billing

Just had an email from BT saying that as I have online access to my account, they are going to stop sending me paper bills.

I hate being dictated to by companies like that. Just had to sign into my account to tell them to KEEP sending me paper bills.

Not a surprise ....once they stopped the paperless bill discount it was obvious that they would have a flood of disgruntled online users wanting paper bills back...won't be long before they slip a charge in for receiving a paper bill as with other telecoms companies.:( Roll on June when I'm free to switch away - just because I can!!!

i havent heard of that one yet, i've always opted for it because they wont give me discount for not having paper as it probably about £8 for them to generate, stuff it in envelope, ink, paper, electricity and labour costs.

Just had the same email. There's a link at the bottom to decline their kind offer and, needless to say, I clicked thereon immediately!
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Hi,

I recieved the e-mail this morning and you are right you can keep the bill but it is in small font at the bottom of the e-mail which could be easily missed but I take it that's what they want. I urge everyone to click at the bottom and keep it what a con.

Personally I like paperfree billing. Its much easier to keep PDFs of bills on my PC rather than paper copies.
I can always print them out if I want to.

Although the withdrawal of the Paper Free Billing allowance is annoying and it is tempting to ask for paper bills again, the cost of preparing and sending all these bills out will finally fall back on us, the customers by higher charges.

You've been switched to paper-free billing

    Again!!!

If you want to keep your paper bill, you can go back to Online and paper billing in the My profile area of My BT.

I have both options and assumed everyone else did.

So if you really want paper billing you can have it. If you haven't got online access to your account you aren't affected and if you haven't got around to going for it you are being nudged to do so i.e. you have to take action. Seem to me BT have got this one right and only the "I know my rights" brigade and the "let's see how much money we can waste" brigade will worry unduly.

I must be in that brigade then.

    And proud to be.

Buy the way, I even had paper billing when it cost me more than non paper customers.
