name driver added to car ins for one week only???

Options
Does anyone know if it is possible to add someone to car/van insurance for ONE WEEK only.

I am purchasing a van to bring all my belongings back to UK from Greece. I am looking at insurance, but i can not find any small print stating that it is possible to add a driver for just a week.
As am i already driving my own car back with children and dog in it i am wanting to get a friend put onto the insurance to drive the van back for me at the same time, i am travelling.

I would have thought it possible as when you hire a car you are insured for the hire period usually only a few days.

I am aware that this is going to be at a premium rate, but for the cross-European driving and the fact i will not have to return and re trace my steps to bring the van back, i feel it is worth it.....

Any ideas on any insurance companies that could assist???

Many hopeful thanks in advance

Most insurers allow you to add a driver for a limited time, assuming the driver is acceptable to them (age/experience/claims/convictions etc)
  • Hi,
    Thanks for your help!
Happy New Yr to you both :-)
  • Give your insurence company a ring, I've put my brother on mine for short periods when he's borrowed my car in the past. It was way too expensive to have him on all year when he was younger, so this was the better option.

The slight sting was they charged £15 admin fee each time, but the premium was pro-rata to the annual cost.

    Hope that helps.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja- vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before
