I'm after some opinions if anyone would like to contribute.
I'm replacing my ageing and increasingly decrepit laptop with a new one in the sales (£500 max), but I've no idea what to go for.
I've seen a few on sale in PC World and Tesco (which I'm sure are the same price as before the sale but there you go), have tried looking at reviews but I'm absolutely baffled.
For example, PC World describes a notebook as a laptop (which I've been told to avoid), and threelaptops that I put on a side by side had different processors (Athalon quadzippilion #something or other).
Basically, I will be running a couple of RAM intensive programs (each requires at least 1 gig of available RAM whatever that means), programming a rather large VBA project as well as usual stuff like itunes, music and vid burning/ripping etc and some music editing.
I'm not after "future proofing" or the most recent model - just something that will do the job and boot up in a reasonable length of time.
Any suggestions on what to go for / avoid? I would prefer to buy in-store as I don't want the hassle that comes with distance buying.
