Scratched alloy wheel on Enterprise hire car - what to do?

Its also why you need to go over the handover form and get them to mark on every single bit of pre-existing damage on it.
Hertz also tend to keep previous forms in the boot where the spare is so you can see the historical damage if the current sheet doesn't have it marked and you need to argue the case.
So an X in the right box and it had the damage previously,
,
;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
By way of a follow up, the car was returned nice and dirty (the horrible weather helped with that) and I made sure to park close to the next car. The guy looked over the car while I remained in the office and he said it was fine.
I'm not sure what I can offer by way of advice but I can certainly recommend Enterprise based on that price, £150 for 10 days was good for me!
Cheers0 -
Thanks for coming back, I hope you don't get your card charged at a later date.0

They can't.
Once they have looked over the car and signed it off they can't charge you.
The next person just has to make sure that they look over the car properly to see the scratch on the alloys and other dents before taking the car.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Heard of a holiday maker, Spain, I think, with one of the big hire co.s Avis etc returned the car which was signed off as ok but it was dirty, few weeks later the card was charged for the excess for damage, the person complained to Radio 4 moneybox who contacted the hire co. who said after cleaning the car they found the damage. Customer was adamant there was none. They lost the money AFAICR.
Slight difference in that it was a different country and therefore not as easy to take to court as a UK co. would be.
Can't remember the story 100%, it's possible they did not inspect it as it was dirty, and they said they usually clean them as soon as they come in but on that occasion there was a lot of cars needing cleaned << if this is the case then it was drivers fault for leaving before it was signed off. But then it might have been the case that the driver had to catch a plane and had no time to wait...0 -
I'd be tempted to cancel the card just in case.0

You may not be saying that in a couple of weeks if they charge you though:D
As wig said and arcon5 advised cancel the card PDQ:D:D0 -
Guess I'm going to be in the minority here but surely if you damaged the wheel you should have fixed it or paid for them to fix it?0

They probably wont get it repaired anyway, certainly not during its period on the fleet. By the time it's finished the number of people who have scuffed the alloys will probably be in double figures!
I went to Car Giant today to look at cars (obviously ex rental) - most of them carrying damage, seems they don't bother repairing a lot of the time and just move them on. IIRC Enterprise used to claim they achieved something like 95% utilisation for their fleet to be hired out on any given day so they wouldnt let a scuff affect whether they're sending it out or not. No lost money to them on rentals, refurb costs (if they do them) would only be a small fee amongst all those who have actually caused damage if it was split, certainly no moral arguement about paying full whack to fix it.matched betting: £879.63
