What department do you want to speak to?

Unless you're calling from a mobile, 0800 is free?

It is for my brother who is calling from a mobile as his phone is disconnected. I think he wanted to talk to a representative. I didn't know that it would also cost on the mobile too. Thanks for your help.

Try www.saynoto0870.com where you'll find local area numbers for lots of companies, and these will be included in any minutes bundle your brother gets on his mobile.

    0800 800 150.

If he's not on Giffgaff (on which freephone numbers really are free), he can use one of the below gateway numbers before dialling the above number for the price of a standard call.

0200 222 0700 or 0200 222 0900 (one or other will work depending on what mobile network he's on).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Just nip in to any BT Payphone - all 0800 calls to them are free.

0800 numbers are only mandatory free on a landline.
With reporting a fault to BT, you can report it from any other landline. Just type in your brother's telephone number.

150 gets thru to BT customer service from a working BT line, as does the 0800800150

Does your brother not have a friend or relative with a BT landline that he could use to make a free 0800 call?
