Chests of drawers for the Bedroom

Options
Hi Guys,

Just a quick question really...

Been looking around for soe more storage for the bedroom, but chests of drawers seem really expensive - or really poor quality :( I know that you probably get what you pay for in this instance, but I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice for getting some stop gap furniture for the bedroom (we're currently in a rented flat, and so will look to get 'proper' furniture in a place we own). I've checked on gumtree and it barely ever comes up...

any thoughts?

Do you have a second hand shop nearby? We have found some fab bits in ours for not much money and they're quality, solid pieces of furniture.

Or perhaps ask on facebook or around your friends if they have anything you could borrow or buy cheaply?

We bought ikea malm drawers quite a few years ago and still going strong. Try ebay for them as there are always loads on there.
  • Antique / second hand shop all the way. We struggled with exactly the same issue, until a friend recommended the local antiques village. We got a huge, beautiful solid mahogany chest of drawers for less than some of the Argos ones!

If you're not keen on this idea, Ikea would be my second choice. Or, if it's just a stopgap and you're not too fussy, have a look at Freecycle.
  • Thanks for your help guys - completely forgot that banardo's has a furniture shop down the road... I was just thinking too much 'online' I guess!

    I'll check them out tomorrow.

The British Heart Foundation shops usually have "proper" chests of drawers.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Totally agree. They also have smaller sets at £15 that are ideal for a kids room :)
