    Managed to declutter the following:

    64. Bedside cabinet - freecycle
    65. Chest of drawers - freecycle
    66. Wardrobe - freecycle

Really pleased to see them go to a good home. At least DS bedroom is a bit clearer, all ready for decorating next week.

Rolling up yesterday and today's rather skimpy efforts:
    87. top to CS bag
    88 - 90. toiletry items donated
    91. bundle of light up twigs out of cupboard and into bin (& 10 minutes picking up bits of twig off cupboard floor).

Re-purposed a duvet cover into bags to hold garden furniture cushions.
6 more patchwork squares completed so fabric mountain is shrinking very slowly.

DS2 home at the weekend to clean and tidy room :T
Hope he will enjoy spending an hour going through his old 'stuff' and weeding :o.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

Well done everyone, hope pavlovs_dog is ok.

Managed to get most of the school uniform today, but another trip required to get out of stock sizes.

Came home and decluttered DS 2&3 bedrooms, a bag of rubbish, some recycling and 6 bags for the charity shop later it's done. That's a room decluttered just needs a good clean now, that will have to wait until the weekend, DS3 has a friend coming for the day and we are planning a trip to the park otherwise they will be glued to the xbox.

    Pleased with todays efforts.

"I may need that" is the primary reason I end up with so much stuff! "Ah that's a useful sized cardboard box, I might want to put something in that" "That outfit might be useful for [insert imaginary event that hasn't happened yet here]":rotfl:

First day back at work today after getting married, and the girl that sits next to me has got engaged - I have someone who wants my stack of wedding magazines!

I'm going to start an August Abolition list too -
1-16: wedding magazines - ready by the door to give to colleague tomorrow :D

I too was guilty of holding on to things 'just in case'. However, I decided I wanted a clutter free house more, this encouraged me to look at 'things' objectively. Also, because I knew that I was going to do some car boot sales I decided that I could put the money to good use (DS bedroom needed decorating). It's about deciding what you want more, a decluttered home or your stash of things.

Why not sell your things on ebay or do a car boot sale and put the money towards something that you really want or will use, it might help you take the sentiment out of the items you are having difficulty in letting go.

I managed to offload a bag of cds to a friend today.:j
  • Well, we're back safely from our trip up north - been to Newcastle for the last 3 days, visiting the Beamish Museum and then Whitley Bay.... the weather was gorgeous both days, despite Newcastle being flooded on Monday! Didn't manage any decluttering at home, but have lost the following:

    18. 1 flannel - left in hotel bathroom by mistake
    19. 1 bar soap - ditto
    20. 6 magazines - left in hotel recycling

When we got home we found a load of junk mail....

    21. Junk mail in recycling bin

    And the phone had died.....

    22. Dead phone - will be taken to electrical recycling at tip

I did buy a few items of clothing whilst away, but will go through my clothes in the next couple of days and compensate for those by chucking out all those that don't fit/haven't worn/have no hope of ever wearing.

Was very good too - didn't bring any of the hotel soap/shower gel or tea/coffee/sugar items home. Don't need them and they'd just add to the clutter!

Also wrote a long list of things to declutter while I was away.... now I just have to find the courage to get them all together and wave bye bye!!! Methinks Freegle and Oxfam will be doing rather well from me next week!!
