Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

Two bags of stock into charity bags and gone today. Over past two days 26 items sold on ebay and posted. Decided to be ruthless with stock. Once profit made, balance to charity shop or bin.
Need to get rid of the mindset that everything has a value, some of it really doesn't.You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Unwanted ad mail shredded, bottles to bottle bank, 2 dead plants to brown bin, quilt covers and pillow cases to CS, video cassettes to friend who still uses a VCR, baking tray that's past its best, socks that have lost their partners and old floor mop retired......whew!
Made my 100 items but can't see much difference as I'm a "hid in cupboard" person but I KNOW there's less in my house. Nothing has been missed so I didn't need any of the stuff. Good feeling." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Well done to everyone who made it to 100 and beyond! :j
I'm determined to sort out another carrier bag of stuff for the charity shop before midnight ...0 -
I spent about 7 hours decluttering DD1's bedroom today and i mean properly decluttered! Down to going through her hundreds of hair accessories to through away ones that had frayed or lost their elastic a bit!!
One whole binbag gone out with the rubbish and some books to give to my niece. I also have a few items to put up in my Memory Box in the loft.
I had to keep DD1 away! She is a hoarder! I cannot stress how many tiny things she keeps! She has a bag of rocks in her room which i wasn't allowed to get rid of as they are all so smooth! She has a half button which is 'special' as a friend at school has the other half!! She is a nightmare! I have allowed her one 'magpie' drawer. If this started to overflow she needs to get rid of some of these silly little things!
Spotless bedroom! :j:j:jOrange Fairy

I failed to reach 100 alas. I have a big bag of stuff for ebay/musicmagpie, but I can't get rid of them until the insurance company replace my stolen computer - grrrr.

Thanks for the extra info. I am ashamed to say I don't know where my waste goes so don't know if it's incinerated or not. I did shred my pics (tried burning them at home; not a good idea.:eek:). I just have digital pics now, so I suppose it won't come up as often.
Out of interest, what happens to the paper that is recycled. I try to [STRIKE]get away with
[/STRIKE] put in stuff I hope will be recycled like paper bags, but oftne wondered if they get sorted out at the destination. I would truly love to know.
I do recycle batteries; I have those little plastic bags especially for them, though can't remember where I got them.
Sorry you found a dead dog. I know back in the old days of the 60's people would just dump their dead pets in the bin.
I actually think your job is very interesting; I would love it. Apart from the dead dog.
Hi
Yes paper gets sorted in to different grades things of lower grade mags, newspaper, bags, envelopes go off to make similar items or toilet roll. paper can be recycled around 8 times before the fibres become to weak toilet roll is the last product that can be made from recycled paper lowest quality- you often see 80% recycled content of items because they need some better quality stuff to strengthen it. Paper recycling is so good its one of the worst things to bin along with glass and cans. Plastic recycling is awful here in India and china its amazing!
I have heard of people finding live exotic animals in bins tortoises, snakes etc and boxes of kittens and a litter of staffs was found in the next county to us and they sell for over £500 each :eek:DMP 2021-2024: £30,668 £0 🥳

Hi there everyone
, I've finished my nights (yesterday morning) but am in for an extra tomorrow night so got to blitz the house today. I'm up for 100 in February, anyone else going to try and do 100 again?
I will keep up to date with my own tally and it's probably easier if everyone just adds it up as they go along isn't it?
So, to start off.....
4 ebay parcels and 4 bits of packaging used. (will be more tomorrow or whenever the people decide to pay for their items).
[STRIKE]Total 8/100[/STRIKE]
I may be clutching at straws here but the little items mount up and are still clutter and on the whole that's what I want to resist.
I'm now off to put away some clothing and then I can hoover around before I start laying out more clothes to photograph ready to list on e*ay at the next opportunity.
ETA: Just remembered more..... 1 shower gel and 1 lip balm used up and thrown away after going through washing machine.
