Just wondered what its like, i fancy booking a holiday for a week, i've got a 1 year old son so i'm quite limited to where i want to go - first time abroad for him so don't want long flights etc and certaintly don't want to end up in a clubbers paradise.

Icmeler is a nice friendly resort with a nice mix of bars, cafe's and nightlife. I'd say it provides an ideal mix for an eleven year old. For a wider variety of shops and a change of scenery you can catch a dolmush(mini van) into Marmaris. It only takes 15 minutes and is cheap and fun to do.

Icmeley has a nice beach and you can do watersports, take a boat trip or catch a taxi boat into Marmaris if you prefer.

Can't remember exactly, but quite a long journey. I wasn't that keen on Turkey, Icmeler was near us, and I heard it was nice, but didn't visit it. Don't you fancy somewhere closer, like Menorca or Mallorca? (would also include shorter transfers from the airport)

About 90 minutes on the bus but well worth it.
  • I thought about the common places like spain, but i wanted something different. If it was just me and the other half i would go anywhere cheap with sun and a beach, i have to be more careful for the wee one. Looked into Tunisia but second thoughts backed out.. could be bought for a camel or something

Take a look at the Icmeler online website

    https://www.icmeleronline.com

They also have a forum and members there will also be happy to answer any questions.

  • Been to Iclemer and it was very nice, fairly quiet but not a lot to do for young children and the Turks love children. A word of warning though - there don't seem to be any enforced safety rules in Turkey. We stayed at a small family aparthotel and the pool was not looked after, people were getting ear infections etc and their were definitely things floating in there! Just before we went over, there was a fire in one of the bars where they pour alcohol over the bar for entertainment and light it - several people have been killed and maimed like this over the past few years, especially as they encourage people to get up and dance.

I don't want to be alarmist but you simply don't get this in established holiday destinations.

I would go to somewhere like Menorca, we went with our kids when they were little and it was absolutely beautiful with activities specifically for children. The sea was very shallow, with lovely coves and places to discover. I wish ours were still small so we could take them again - it's far too quiet for them now!

    Hello,

Me and my OH have been to Icmeler for the last 4 years! It really is a very nice place and the locals are extremely friendly and like mentioned above they love kids.

It's a nice relaxed place without any hussle and bussle. Do as much or as little as you want....plenty of trips available to get you off the beach.

It's about a 4 hour flight to dalaman then the best part of two hours on the coach to the resort.

We usually stay in the efendi hotel which is about 50m from the beach!!

I'd recommend it highly as we really enjoy the place.

    HTH,

    Simon
  • I've booked it for the 7th of May, flights are a bit late coming back but hopefully we'll be able to have a late room check out. Now its time to save!

Im looking forward to it, any place hot will do me
