Find me the right skoda bulb!
My 2006 skoda fabia needs a new front interior lightbulb. According to the manual it's a c10w which doesn't correspond to the halfords numbers.
The one their info recommends is a 5w and is bigger than the old one I've taken out. They sold me a different one that looks the same but doesn't work (no 264)
A small problem but annoying when I want to read directions at night.
Please can anyone help - I don't want to keep buying the wrong bulbs if it turns out to be a fuse that has gone.
Cheers.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Don`t Halfords fit them ?0

I suppose that might have to be the last resort but I do object to having to pay to change a lightbulb - makes me feel very incompetent! All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Should just be a standard 501 capless bulb?:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Putting C10W into ebay reveals that its a 42mm Festoon tupe bulb.
For and interior light 5w is right so should be Halfords 239
Or from here and have a spare for another 25p

Ring Bulb finder easier to use than halfords) confirms this

Apologies, thought you said reading light at the sides. Those are 501, but the 'interior' light that comes on when you open the door is a festoon - 239.

Skoda dealer not sell them?
If they do it should be the right one, i've had all sorts of problems finding festoon bulbs that are even worth fitting.
ISTR some makers fit 10w festoons but when you go aftermarket they are invariably 5w for the same size, useless things..0 -
A Skoda dealer will sell you a 239. They are the same thing as part number N0177234 which any VAG dealer would supply. I work at a VW garage, and we sell ours for 50p each BTW, cheaper than eBay and ours are genuine parts!:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. When I owned my Skoda I got the bulbs and wipers out the dealer as they were as mentioned above competitive with the other retailers. Also they fitted the passenger side lightbulb for free as the mechanic had the knack to it as it is hard up against the battery and a pain to change!0

Where I am, we fit all bulbs and wipers FOC, so for 50p you can have the bulb and have it fitted...no brainer really?!:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things.
