hi all
Hope someone can help me. We have the above PVR and want to make use of the Internet TV option (i.e. iPlayer, etc) but this requires an ethernet cable to the router/modem. Problem is that the O2 router/modem (it is only one thing) is in another room.
I bought power adaptors as suggested by my BIL and tried setting them up last night - nothing doing. Kept saying I needed a LAN connection and the option to configure wifi was dissabled.
I got a bit frustrated and tried to use the wifi dongle (usb one) from my husband's xbox and that too would not do anything.
I do not think it is the kit as the Humax site suggests a power adaptor (2 obviously)...
Could it be O2? there is a password which I was expecting to be able to configure on the PVR but as the wifi configuration optino is not allowing me to connect I am pretty much screwed unless I buy a 15 m Ethernet cable!
I really want to make the most of the PVR so would welcome some suggestions around trying to troubleshoot the problem...

Get the Powerline adaptors working and you should have no problem-you don't need any kind of wi-fi set up to use them, they just connect with a short ethernet cable at each end, one into the router and one into the Humax. Bascially plug 'n play.
If you want to connect a device to your wi-fi network then yes, you will need to enter the wireless encryption key.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

That is exactly what I did - I pluged one into the router and the other into the Humax but nothing happened. kept saying I do not have LAN connection hence why I then tried to go to the Humax internet settings. I will see if I can set this up with the xbox or the surround sound and see if that works... if not then I guess it is the power adaptors that are broken! grrrr.Well lets see - I dip in and out of MSE all the time but I still come back - have done since 2007!!!

Obviously yes you must have a network set up to make it work. Just try and make a simple connection using the Homeplugs and another device, worry about the Humax later.
Where did it say that you do not have a LAN connection?
Are you using the Homeplugs straight into a wall socket and not via a trailing extension lead? That will often greatly degrade their performance. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Check that you have a connection from the power adaptor to your network by plugging in a PC to the one at the Humax end.
If that is OK then you'll have to connect the Humax directly into your network rather than using the power adaptors.
This should give a clue as to what is wrong as currently there are too many placers where the fault lies0 -
Thanks everyone - seems one of the power adaptors is not receiving power! Hubby spent this morning plugging them into a socket side by side and plugged in his laptop to check and the one adaptor is clearly not receiving constant power! So hopefully they will replace that and then it will work as a plug and play that it should be!Well lets see - I dip in and out of MSE all the time but I still come back - have done since 2007!!!
