We moved into our new home 2 years ago and discovered that the conservatory that were fitted by dunraven appears to be of poor fitting against the wall. So poor that it is causing so much damp and water appears to be coming through. We did have a builder who attempted to repair it but it only lasted 12 months of non-leaking.
Is it correct that since we didn't buy the conservatory that the contract is not transferable? I have spoken with builder but they either say its going to cost me £1200 or £250. Both quotes appear to be very different.
Or should I be asking dunraven to come out and look at what they did at a cost?
Help need advice soon!

you can always try it on, bit in most cases any warranty is not transferable.
this applies to goods and services.Get some gorm.0 -
most double glazing companies stipulate their guarantees arent transferable. However, its pretty basic, is the leak coming down from the roof or up from the floor.0

The leak is coming from the roof as that is were the lead is fitted. I just had another quote for another builder who quoted £5000.
Not sure what I can do.
Help anyone?0 -

No that is just to repair the wall. Ridiculous price really. How can I trust a builder when 3 give you complete different quotes?0

Read this recent thread, it sums it up

You need to determine the cause. If the water is getting in via the flashing or roof/wall connection then it is easy and cheap to fix (a few hundred £'s at most). If cavity trays are the problem then not so cheap or easy (£1k upwards approx)
Try it on with the company, at least then they may give you an idea if not fix it0 -
Hi
Many thanks for this. But the builder said that the beads rusting and are galvanised which means the problem has been of been for some time .I.e from the off or first winter meaning from the start. The fiting of the conservatory was incorrectly fitted or badly installed. The lead has not been fitted far enough inside the wall cavity passed the rendering that when the water falls it, the lead is not preventing it from leaking in. Around the conservatory there are cavity trays but only half of it, the other part of the conservatory is sectioned with lead.
I will try calling dunraven again, they did say they could come out for £60 fee but not guarantee thay will do anything about it. Do you think I can try and contact the previous owners? That may not be the best idea though as they were made bankrupt and I may be venturing on rudeness, really.
The builder said that to fully resolve and fix, it needs taking of on 2walls and rerendering ensuring a proper seal and lead work to ensure no leaks .0 -
Leave the previous owners out of it. Also don't pay a call out charge for someone to just look at it.
Its odd that the builder says that beads are rusting, as the beads are normally plastic or aluminium and never steel
With a rendered wall, the render should be removed and the flashing chased into the brickwork. This is the best picture I could find on google - your roof would be where the gravel is in the image
If this is the cause, then yes it can be awkward, messy, time consuming and a bit pricey0
