Nintendo ds lite, wont power up!

Hi, my nintendo ds lite wont power up.

Its brand new and i have only played on one game for about 5 mins then it shut down, i have had it on charge for hours and when i slide the power button the screen comes on for about 2 secs and then shuts down again and again it does this.

Anyone any ideas? i have no warranty as i bought it from ebay so the only way of fixing is to try myself or a repair man.

You have the option of SNAD with eBay, how long have you had it. Does it work when connected to the charger ? Is it a real DS or a chinese copy ?

I used to repair these things by the dozen. The most common fault for this symptom is a faulty top screen or damaged/loose ribbon cable between the top screen and the logic board.

It can be caused by other problems but I found that to be the most common reason. The flicker and power off is down to the unit powering on then running a quick system check. One of the first thing it checks is screen connectivity and if that fails it immediately powers off.

It's a fairly cheap repair and shouldn't take more than 10 - 15 minutes for someone experienced in these type of repairs BUT if you have a warranty with return/replace options in place you might be better off just opting to go that route.
