Hi we've been going on Sun Holidays for the past 4 yrs and have only been dissapointed once - Pontins Southport total dump!! keep clear. We tend to stick to Haven to be honest Haven Hafan y mor is great with kids fab pool and lovely site Greenacress also in wales good too, Haven Quay West is quieter but just as nice, and Tenby kiln park is very handy for surrounding area but fascillities not as good as Hafan Y Mor. Hope this helps xxx
  • I've got a silly question is there a site we could stay so that we could go to Lego Land Windsor for the day???? kids want to go to Lego Land and on a sun holiday this year!!!
  • Thank you for the quick reply Betty, I have no kids so not bothered about the kids stuff :-P. I am looking for somewhere that has places to visit near by. Thanks

    Hi,

Are you allowed to take a dog at any of the caravan parks?

If so, can anyone recommend a nice park where we can go with the dog.

    Thanks

Butlins & Pontins don't allow pets but Haven & Parkdean do and I think Park Resorts do aswell.

We've taken our 2 to Parkdean & Haven sites (both have 2 or 3 sites that don't allow dogs so check first).

You book your Sun hol as normal then when you receive booking confirmation, call the park and book your dogs in. Max 2 dogs per caravan. Parkdean was £20 per dog, Haven was £50 flat fee for up to 2 dogs.

Nicest park we've found so far was Parkdean Southerness in Scotland, the dog section is right next to the beach and the caravan was lovely :)

    xx

  • Hi all, here is question...
we booked a sun holiday a few years ago and the accommodation was so awful we didnt even sleep there that night - dog poo, carpet and spray to cover the smell should tell you what you need to know - we found a B&B and came back next day for a full blow argument and a free upgrade to a luxury caravan.

Since then, we book via the SUN then call park resorts to upgrade - either gold or gold plus caravan (heating in rooms as we have small children - but im wondering if its just cheaper to just book directly with part resorts?
the sun holiday comes to £76.75 for me, and i generally pay over £100 - £120 to upgrade - all in all nothing like a £38 holiday!!! But my children love the entretainment and beg us to go every year.

I have just check direct with Park resorts and I can buy the holiday for £158... do i book directly or via the sun?

    Do you have a view?

    thanks
    KS

You can upgrade to luxury or luxury plus for £4pp or £8pp extra - we did this when we went to Cornwall so ended up paying about £70 for accomodation, was still a really cheap holiday even with paying for the entertainment passes etc.

We stayed at Park Dean Looe Bay and the caravan was lovely - brand new and very clean.
  • We have been on several Sun holidays over the years - probably 10-12 times I should imagine and now we are a family of 5 I have found that it is cheaper to book direct with the parks than via the Sun UNLESS it is for Butlins.

We have had many great holidays at Butlins and ALWAYS upgrade to silver beacause the one time we stayed in Budget we all had a sickness bug and vowed NEVER AGAIN as the chalet was not very clean we were convinced that was why we were all ill! Butlins does work out cheaper for us HOWEVER last year I had real problems finding a holiday for 5 with them via the Sun so if you are looking to book bear this in mind, have a second/third choice in mind and check their prices direct first- that is what I shall be doing anyway!

We have had 5 different sun holidays each one the accomodation has been great. Maybe we have just been lucky.

I always work out in advance what sites I like -check trip advisor, the thread on MSE for good sites.

The very first one was Solway Bay and I was quite worried after the reviews but they gave us an upgrade and it was fantastic quality and centrally heated.
