Hi all,
Have moisture problems in our house when the outside temp drops below about 6/7 degrees the windows will stream water and there is surface mould growing on the wall in the hallway (coldest part of my house my a million miles)
House is cavity and loft insulated, brand new A rated double glazing pvc windows.
To combat the moisture issues i have brought a D'Longhi DEM10 Compact Dehumidifier - should be delivered todaya t some point.
How do i use it?
Should i run when the heating is on?
Run only when heating is off and the air is colling thus turning damp?
Run all day?
I kind of figure that surely it should run through the night when the heating has gone off and the rooms are cooling making the air heavier and moist?
Thankyou in advance for your time

Mould and condensation is not due to cold, it's due to inadequate ventilation. Heating the house just masks the problem, as warmer air holds more water vapour. As the room cools overnight more moisture condenses out of the colder air.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

You can buy a humidity meter for a few pounds.
It will show you the moisture content in the air.
We have our dehumidifier on a timer so that it only comes on during the day. (Bit to noisy for nighttime)
Set the dehumidifier around the mid setting and see how it goes.
It works like a fridge and comes on when the moisture level rises.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Hi i bought the same model as you are getting a couple of months ago, it is great.
i agree with above it is too noisy to have on a night-time, well for me anyway.
When i first started using it I used it almost consistantly durinbg the day, moving it to different places in the house, it was collecting large amounts of water.
i now only put it on for a couple of hours most days, a bit longer if I am drying loads of washing indoors or doing loads of cooking.Debt Free Dec 2009non-smoker 19th Nov 2010Trying to lose weight 40lb/42lb
