On to February's self-improvements!
1) Head towards a vegan diet We've got some non-vegan food in the fridge and freezer so I will use what's there, but during Feb I will only buy vegan-friendly food. I'm already vegetarian (well slightly pescatarian) so it won't be a huge leap but a challenge nontheless. I've been thinking about doing this for a while and now's as good a time as any. I'll review it at the end of Feb to see if it stays.
Keep up the healthy lifestyle I do feel better for January's healthier living so this is a definite. I'll have a rest from entering calories into Fitbit because it gets tedious after a while, but I will still log my sleep, weight and steps.
Keep the spending sensible It's going to be minimum payments during Feb and probably March too, I've no chance of hitting the £700 unsecured repayments, but I'll keep the purse strings tight and record my spends here.LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!
Debt Dec 11: Unsecured £69,579 + Mortgage £59,948 = £129,527
Debt May 21: Unsecured ZERO! ZILCH! Mortgage £22,3323 -
Phew, I made it to the end. I've spent the last couple of weeks reading right the way through.
Re standing on one leg, I used to be able to do it with no issues and could now if everything wasn't so riddled with arthritis and joints didn't pop out at the slightest thing..my balance is great, my joints not so much. I can't even do the stand up to get underwear thing on now after my previous attempt ended up with my hip coming out and me doing an impression of a tree being felled but with much less grace and with far more embarrassment.
I don't have debts as such but I do have a very small income which requires very careful balancing, so would you mind if I joined you all?
My targets if you allow me are as follows
Try to lose some weight - This is not easy for me as I cannot do the activity required (virtually a full time wheelchair user), so calorie usage is minimal alongside a rather sluggish metabolism. I put weight on at 1000-1200 calories, remain stable at 800 calories and lose weight on 600 calories per day. I'm trying to think of ways I can up the activity but without increasing the deterioration in my body through dislocations or fatigue.
Try to build more of an emergency/nice things pot - I had been doing well but it has gone by the wayside since last Autumn.
Learn to say no - I am terrible at wanting to please people even if it is to my detriment. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.3 -
Well done on your January targets, you really do go to show that at least if you're trying to get to something it's worth it
I've no doubt you'll get the weight in Feb, although I absolutely couldn't do a vegan diet, I don't like enough vegatables :rotfl:
Bramble snipping is excellent for toning tummies......Just saying:D3 -

Well I have completely blown the calorie intake for today (and probably tomorrow too)....I had a very nice breakfast at Wimpy after finishing work this morning.
I did manage to say no to a request but the request itself was only a half hearted one as I think they realised that I was in desperate need of painkillers and bed.
Spend neutral today, I did pay for breakfast but then I got a surprise money back £10 for something I thought I had to pay for last week which covered both the breakfast and a few little bits I picked up in Poundland. Mind you, had I not spent on breakfast, there would have been around £7 going into my POD (pot of dreams) for my big birthday celebrations (I will be 50 this year and my idea of big celebrations is going away in a caravan for a week near Great Yarmouth)We made it! Hi HappyNow
Just popping on to see if you are ok after all of this flooding? It's crazy where we are. Roads were blocked with trees and flooding but ok now. Don't know when the trains will be running again. A few properties flooded by the river but thankfully we are halfway up a hill. I know that it's worse in other areas of West Yorkshire though so I do hope you aren't affected.2 -

SingleSue - Sorry I haven't been about to welcome you and congratulate you on your marathon read. You are very, very welcome to join in the thread - no debt required! Wow, that's a tiny calorie intake needed to lose weight. You'll remember that my daughter spent several months in a wheelchair when she had her vestibular episode a few years ago and she found the same, so I suppose most of us burn more calories than we realise just in moving around. She put on about 2 stone and it took over a year to lose it when she got her mobility back, so I really appreciate what you're up against. Hopefully posting regularly will help you keep the momentum up - it has definitely helped me. Good luck too with building that Pot of DreamsLBM Dec 2011.
