They'll do minimum 55 miles to the gallon, have a decent sized boot, leg room and are suitable for tall people. My parents keep on at me to sell mine (its now 8 years old) but I've had it since almost new and I've taken care of it. Its hardly cost me anything in repairs. The engines in them just keep going. There's a guy I work with who has a 94' 306 which has done 200,000 miles and is still going with no problems. You'll be able to pick one up (age depending) for between 400 and 1000 for one thats about 8-10 years old.
Peugot diesels have always been known for reliability and longevity. Most of the farmers round here use pickups with peugot engines to tear round in.
They just go on forever.1/11/06 -1/06/07 BSC #42

Sounds good.
We are going to the auctions tonight to see how they work. Never bveen before.... Must remember to keep my hands in my pockets mind !0 -
If you're going to the auctions, go early and browse round as the cars should be on view prior to the auction (if it arrives late and you don't get to give it the once over don't bid) and if you're looking to buy one of these (306's) then ask to see the service book. If it hasn't got one don't touch it. Look for the following:-
Front bushes changed at around 30,000 miles (most need their bushes replaced after two to three years but don't need it afterwards). If this hasn't been done don't touch the car.
Some drivers doors of 306's have a very loud 'click', don't be put off by this it just means the person whose had it doesn't realise it needs a new door strap (you can replace this yourself its nothing serious, I got one from a scrappies for 2 quid.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Mike, Obviously you sell the car where you want to, dealer, autotrader for example, ebay. Be very careful of scammers only deal face to face and I would only accept cash and do not hand the keys over until the money is in your bank. sellyourjamjar.co.uk who I thought were dodgy werent and gave me a reasonable quote. good luck LennyThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Ooh I can sympathise with you on this one! I made the very difficult decision to sell my car almost exactly 2 years ago. It was only an H-reg Cavalier but I loved it – freedom and all that, plus it was the 1st car that I had ever owned. (We couldn’t- and still can’t - afford to replace it)
Trouble was, it was just sucking money out of my bank account and increasing my credit card balances considerably – that car was one of the main reasons for my very large debts. It got to the stage where I had to sell it while I still could (it still had 3 months MOT and there was a really good chance it would have failed again) – it took me a long time to persuade OH it was the right thing to do (I should point that I can drive but OH can’t!). I got £180 for it which I was actually very pleased with because it was more than I thought I would get for it – it helped that it started first time when I turned the key (first time that had happened for months – someone must have been looking out for me that day!).
I have to say that of all the sacrifices I have had to make in my quest as a DFW, that was definitely the hardest!

Hi Lenny
Sorry I must sound really thick but why would you insist on making sure the cash is in the bank before handing the keys over? Is this to avoid forged notes or them snatching the money back and driving off? Just curious because I am considering selling my car later this year and will do so via the local paper.Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0 -
We bought our Seat Alhambra (yes I know, a people carrier for two of us..:D ) off eBay. We got it much cheaper than if we'd got it from anywhere else. The bloke had a good feedback , he'd photographed the FSH and it was cash on collection, so no problem there then.
We won the auction and then realised the car was in Margate. Now this is about as difficult to get to from the West Midlands as it is possible to be! It was our own fault, we should have checked.
Anyway, a friend of ours who also has an Alhambra (and a large family :rotfl: ), took us down, we collected the car and had a nice few hours at the seaside.
That was three years ago, we've still got it, it's a brilliant vehicle and for its size really economical.
Good luck with your jeep, it looks great!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
