    My questions are:
1.Should I go to go to all these parties. I know he wont really enjoy it too much as he cant get crawl/or toddle yet.
2.MSE question, how much should you spend on presents for these parties, is £10 ok or am I being mean as it will start to cost a lot if I go to all these parties and I am not working.
    3. I dont think I want a big party for my boy, he is only 1 and wont really understand what is happening. I just thought it was a family type thing. I only invited family and close friends to his christening as I thought it should be similar for his first birthday, to share with people you love.

Thanks for reading my post, just want some feedback

    Sorry just seen this.

    1. No, go to the ones you want to.

2, as much as you want, start a present box and buy things to put in it when there is a special offer on. We often stock up on stuff that costs a couple of quid or less and if that means some kids have the same presents as each other, then hard cheese. Kids go through toys like no ones business anyway, any gift is usually forgotten within a short while.

3.You should do what you want, not what everybody around you does. You want a small family party, well do it. No one will be judging you and if they do, then they aren't someone who's friendship you want anyway.

  • I wouldn't pay more than £5 for a birthday party present, once you add in the card and wrapping paper it all adds up. Especially when they get older and want a new outfit as well.

I would go to as many of them as you could, being friends with a lot of mums is important and I made this mistake with my first I won't make the same mistake with my 2nd.

I wouldn't throw a party for a 1 year old, I think they're silly and nobody will hold it against you for not doing one.

Wrapping paper, buy in bulk when it's cheap, the cheapest is always OK, no one cares about expensive wrapping paper and if they do, see comment above about them not being worth worrying about.

Cards, as above, or make your own. We make all ours, (or buy them in bulk when a special offer is on) I like to think it adds a personal touch and if people think otherwise, please see above :D

Even cheaper wrapping paper is your kids own artwork! (people actually seem to like it too, unless they are lying to my face :rotfl:)
