Partner Rejected for Mortgage - Question Regarding Credit Report

Hi everyone,
My partner recently applied for a mortgage and was declined due her credit rating so we run a credit check with experian.
Her report has come back and her score is poor.
We are confused with her credit history with Orange mobile. It states on her credit report that she was 4 payments late and it has flagged up in red.
She has rung orange and she paid every bill but was a late by a few days everytime. So yes was late with payments but never went more than a month behind.
Does this item flagged up on her credit report read right then? From how I read it it would seem she went 4 months behind but this is definitely not the case. If she paid her bill a little late every month surely this is not going to effect her report as badly as it has done.
Thanks for any input with this.
Richard

Unfortunately it does. There's no real excuse for late payment. If its a lapse of memory then set-up a direct debit so that payments are made on time.
If her employer paid her salary late what would her reaction be?0 -

I don't agree, the credit reports are clearly written in terms of "one month late" etc so for me providing it was days and not over a month then it should be recorded as paid on time.
The salary point is funny because had it been paid late and she missed payment the bank would charge, then orange would charge, could she then charge her employer! food for thought..0 -
So by that logic I can pay my credit card 25 days late and it won't show on my credit file.......I think not.0

I agree with the point that it should show late - but only a month late. The credit report seems to show her as having a payment 4 months late though? This is surely not right
Or prehaps I am reading the report wrong and rather than being 4 months late it means she has been late for 4 months in a row - which in all honestly is correct.0 -

Yes, a late payment is a late payment regardless of it being one day, 3 days or 20 days.0 -

It is correct - if she paid 4 bills late then the way this shows as 4 months late.
It is what it is - even though it was paid it was still classed as arrears initially as it was not paid on time.

So if you received your salary a few days late, although a contractual arrangement, you wouldn't mind? Your employer could argue that it was paid on time.0 -

Every lender will have its own set criteria how they register missed payments. Some will mark it as being late after say one day were others will mark it as being late after 2 weeks.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
With regard to the way the credit report should read the OP is correct.
4 late payments should read 1,1,1,1 as they were missed but paid later so she is never more than 1 month in arrears
from what the OP is describing the credit report shoudl read 4,3,2,1 which is 4 payments missed completely.
OP can you clarify what exactly it says on the credit report?I am a Mortgage Adviser
