Teeth!?

My late gran left me a substantial amount (25k)- would it be selfish to get my teeth 'done'? Or should I put it away for a rainy day? I am 30, single, no children, not a great job!.

It is what makes you happy (happier) that counts.

WITHOUT breaking the bank why not have them done if it is a thing that bothers you / would give you more confidence etc.

I don't think it would be selfish. If your teeth are causing you concern and you've been wanting to get them done, go for it :)

And it hopefully wouldn't cost the whole £25k depending on what you're having done:eek::rotfl:!

Personally I would wait a few years until your own teeth are really knackered and you can invest in a full new set of nashers to see you through old age :D

I suggest you leave it for a rainy day.you can not image what day will be tomorrow.
    That is not selfish.

Anything you get 'done' to your teeth will, one day, need re-doing.

As Welsh said - it depends what being 'done' means.

If it's just shuffling round what you've got with braces to make them look nice, then go for it - but it should onl take a small proportion of £25k.

If you're talking more of multiple veneers, crowns, bridges and implants, then you need to bear in mind that these will not be one-off costs and you'll be sorted for life.

The more complex the treatment you need, the more proper ongoing maintenance you will need to budget for and you will need to be aware that replacing items will be necessary at some time (depending on how well you look after it all).
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
  • Just to re-iterate what Toothsmith says - a friend of mine had full veneers done years ago and didnt realise they only last a bout 10 yrs. she is desperately in need of getting new ones but has fallen on hard times and cannot replace them (same as boob jobs i suppose). Be wary of the on-going costs associated with a cosmetic procedure.
Im all for invisible braces and teeth whitening, that may be a more cost effective first step
Good luck whatever you decide, inheritance can be used for anything in my opinion. its been left to you to do what you want with :-D

Why spend £25k when you can spend £5k on the same thing. I got my teeth done (23 crowns) in Hungary just before Xmas & they are great. I didnt bother with veneers as Ive heard bad things about them, I got Zirconium crowns, which look lovely & very natural. I got mine done at Prudent who are in a small town near the Austrian border (stuffed with dentists for some reason). One tip if you go to Prudent, dont let them give you teeth that are too yellow. Their technicians idea of what looks good & mine are VERY different. I got B1, A1 is Hollywood, & then they add the yellow for a natual look. I had ALL the yellow removed from mine. I dont think most Britsh dentists are that good, certainly no better than Hungarian ones (unless you go for one of the top dentists)

I saved up and had invisalign as an adult -it totally changed the way I feel about myself, I am so much more confident. If Id known how much it would change me I wouldve got a loan out and had it done years ago!
