How to straighten the baby's crib mattress??

Needed some advice before i have to head out to purchase a new mattress.

With my previous baby, once baby had grown out of the crib, my husband folded the mattress and put it away in the attic.

We have another baby on the way. Took out mattress but it isnt straightening out, its still bent (since hubby folded it :().

Any ideas on how to straighten it??

Can't you lie it down the opposite way to how its folded with something firm on top to hold it down for a few days? maybe lay it next to a warm (not hot) radiator?

Buy a new mattress. I believe there is an increased risk of cot death when using mattresses that have been used before.
