Hi, when you say you condition your hair just once a week does this mean you just use shampoo on its own the rest of the time? I have tried to skip conditioner sometimes but then my hair feels more flyaway. I've also got a spray leave in conditioner but that makes my hair look dull. I also find that serum can weigh my hair down and make it greasy so I can't win whatever I use.

Yes I just shampoo my hair, I'm currently using Gliss (bargin at £1 from B&M). I do always use a leave in smoothing product though, otherwise my hair would be frizzy frizzy.

Try reducing the amount of product that you are putting in your hair. The two I use at the moment work better the less I use.

have you thought about getting a brazillian blow dry?

ive not had one but the results are meant to be fantastic for smoothing hair and making it sleek.

I was about to say the same. They're expensive in salons but you can buy a DYI kit on Amazon which is just as good and SO much cheaper.

Or you can get one by Organix in Boots which doesn't last as long but is only £12.99 (I haven't tried it though). You can get the shampoo, conditioner and styling products with keratin added in too which are on offer in Boots at the moment at two for £8.00, and they are good as I've tried those ones.

Although I'm caucasian, the only way I could describe my hair before is like that of an Afro-Caribbean person. It was very coarse, wiry, thick etc etc.

Now, I can blast my hair with a hair dryer (I would have looked like Tina Turner before!), and leave it be if I like with no other styling required.

Or if I straighten it, it'll stay straight and smooth even in light rain.

    Might be worth a go?

Do you use the same styling products as your hairdresser?
I would stop straightening your hair and focus on nourishing and smoothing the texture you have.

I've tried all sorts of products over the years for my frizzy jaw-length hair - coconut oil, morroccan oil, frizz ease etc.

A few months ago I was flitting through the tv channels and came across QVC advertising Ojon products.

I've been using the following trio once a week for 4 months now and still have half left.

I mix 6 drops of the oil into the conditioner and leave for 15 mins, then when my hair is towel dry I massage in 3-4 drops - any more and your hair will be greasy...trust me on this! :D

I use Tresemme iron oil spray before blow drying and again when using my GHD's - I've tried other irons, but these really are the best.

The best thing about buying from QVC is you can try for a month and if you don't like it, then send it all back for a refund. :T

  • I'm using Ojon damage reverse too, well i've used it once and I'm stunned y the results!

My hair is thick, bushy, wavy frizzy and very difficult to manage but I used that ojon shampoo and conditioner followeed by Macadamia healing oil before blowdrying and my hair was so easy to style, felt soft and silky and I didn't need to straighten it - unheard of!

    100% reccomend it.:D

Also I don't think anything compares to GHD - best thing I ever bought and *touch wood* mine are still going strong after nearly 8/9+ years!

I thought that too when I had mine, which I used for about five years. They died and by recommendation of a lady in Sally's I bought a pair of FHIs (they also sold GHD but she recommended FHI over them), and they are FAB! Better I think than GHD and not quite so expensive either. Something to bear in mind if yours pack up :p

Thanks! I just looked them up, they look really nice - good price too!

I dread the day my GHD's die :(
  • GHD's are meant to be really good... my sister has them and her always looks lovely.

Have you thought about leaving your hair for a bout two weeks without doing anything (heat-wise) to it and put your hair up for those two weeks. I done this when my hair was dreadful (i just wore my hair up for two weeks) and after that my hair was increabily soft and healthy. Also, try hair masks! Do wonders for your hair... Herbal Essences one is really good! :)

    And don't worry ... I feel your pain! :(

I have curly hair and found it to be getting more and more frizzy. I found the curliegirlforum through this forum and found out why my hair is increasingly frizzy. I was using shampoos with sulphates that strip the hair of product but also natural oils and then I was sealing in this dryness by using conditioners with silicone in them. Now I use high street products without these two ingredients and my hair is thicker but less frizzy. I use a variety of shampoos including Dr Organics from Holland & Barrett and Bodyshop rainforest shampoo. For conditioner you can use Tresemme naturals. original source tea tree, shops own brand of coconut shampoos.

You can also follow the curly girl method which involves washing your hair with conditioner (not shampoo), towel drying with a micro fibre towel and leaving to dry naturally.

Had a look at Ojon and also Wen products which look good but will need to check the ingredients. Some of the frizz products contain loads of silicones which make my hair worse not better frizz wise
