Ive been outside today cleaning out the birdboxes and hoping for some new tennants in the spring.!!. My son bought me a camera bird box for christmas and I cant wait to get it up and running and hoping to get a blue tit or great tit taking up residence......
In flower in my garden borders since summer 11 and still flowering are ; osteospermums, calendula, heather, hot lips salvias, roses and some halliana honeysuckle.........:D When I went to put some winter bulbs in the ground in Ocotber the ground was so hard I couldnt plant until I hosed it down, I wanted to put the allium bulbs 6 inches down as reccommended but it was impossible to go that far down with the dry conditions........I noticed today that I have green buds on some of my decidious honeysuckles, and rose bushes.....mind you in East Anglia it has been very dry all year, we dont seem to get days of rain like a lot of parts in the country, and we do get a lot of winds which dry the land pretty quick...........plus we havent had many frosts this winter........Also notice its getting slightly lighter of a evening, we are on the right side of spring and cant wait for it........:D0 -
We were down in Sussex a few days ago and saw a clump of daffodils out in flower in somebody's front garden, and even more amazingly, saw two camelia bushes out in full bloom. It really has been an amazingly mild winter. We have a few small clumps of primroses out in flower in our own garden. I also have one tub of geraniums on our patio which are still flowering from last summer !0

Our geraniums are flowering along side the snowdrops that are just coming out.

I thought I had lost my Princess lillies two years ago but when i dug over the border at the start of last year i found the roots so I replanted them, they started to grow and then did nothing for months. While checking for storm damage this afternoon I noticed that they have just started to flower!!!Alice came to a fork in the road. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

I have two yellow crocuses flowering in my front garden - in the back we have daffodil, crocus, snowdrop and bluebell greens ... I am hoping for some cold weather before it's too late to stop them in their tracks now!

In West Midlands - our Crocosmias are coming up already. Unfortunately don't know about most of our bulbs yet as we haven't done our annual clear.0

I just found some snowdrops in flower, hilariously, peeking out from underneath a pelagonium I forgot to bring in last autumn. That was shielded from view by the hollyhocks.0
