Insurance and No Claim Bonus after an Accident

Options
Hi All

I think I am going to have endless problems with this and would be greatful for any help.

In October my Husband was involved in an accident. The third party went into the back of him. Our vehicle was a write off and our insurers paid out. On getting another vehicle which didnt quite fit in the van category (it is an MPV with windows as oppossed to panels) we couldnt replace the van with this vehicle on our current insurance policy and had to take a new policy out. The previous insurance policy showed full no claim bonus, however, when doing a search on a comparison website we said we only were entitled to an equivalent of a three year no claim bonus as the third party claim hadnt been cleared up as yet and once it had the intention then would have been to increase the No Claim Discount. We had also put the fact that we were not at fault on the application. When our current insurers asked for proof of No Claim Discount we sent a copy of our policy which showed proof of Full No Claim Discount. They said they couldnt accept it has it didnt show that the policy had been cancelled or expired. They then wrote to us to say that according to some database it showed that we were fault for the accident and proceeded to take another 140.00 off our credit card. We contacted our previous insurers who stipulated that we would be put as fault until full recovery has been made from the third party. We have in the meantime requested some sort of confirmation of No Claim Discount from the previous Brokers/Insurers and have heard absolutely nothing. We were also promised a refund if the policy was cancelled because we couldnt replace the van with the Car - still nothing heard. We then got another letter from our current insurers to say that they have taken another 450 off our credit card as we cant provide proof of No claim Discount. If we are to be refunded all this money once we get confirmation of our No Claim Discount from the other insurers and confirmation that we were not at fault - things may be different and I wouldnt be writing in this forum - but apparantly not the premium would be prorataed. Time is ticking. We also had a legal expenses policy so I have taken the liberty of writing out previous brokers adding all these additional premiums to try and chase things up.
