  • Hi,

i got my shoes from ebay. Did a search for the styles/brands etc that i liked & ended up buying them off ebay for £31 instead of £120. Pick up instead of postage. I'm currently making the most of the January sales (underwear from La Senza sale for my bridesmaid & I) and jewellery from Chez Bec with 20% off.

  • I bought on eBay:
    Table vases and artificial flowers
    Wedding dress
    Wedding cake
    Bouquet
    Button holes
    Shoes

The cake and dress were both local so I collected them and they were a huge bargain!

Actually, I think I bought everything other than the venue and meal on eBay!

:D No! There is no "should" when it comes to planning your wedding! Do what you want to do because you want to not because you feel like you should. Besides I can't imagine how long it'd take you to find the perfect set :p:rotfl:

  • Wanchai,

I've only got 1 BM so its not so bad, but I suppose if you're buying for 4 or 5 people it all adds up. My BM is 12 so if I don't get it for her she'll no doubt turn up in Spongebob underwear or something!!
I got mine in the La Senza sale. A multi way strapless bra (currently half price on all strapless bras- £20 to £10) and seam free knickers £5 to £2.50.
They have a good range of 'functional' underwear as well as the pretty stuff.

My 12 year old sister is my one of my bridesmaid, I hadnt even thought what loud dodgy pants she may wear- will have to get my mum to make sure she buys her some normal plain seamless pants!! :rotfl:
  • Are you looking for something just for the sake of getting something cheap on ebay, or do you actually have things you need to get?
If there's nothing else you need, then not buying anything will make your wedding cheaper ;)
But seriously, it's easy to get carried away with the little extras.
Why would you need a guestbook AND a wishing tree for example.
And the wishing well - is that for cards & gifts? Most people will just give them to the groomsmen who will put them in a designated safe place.

We won our wedding, so the majority of stuff is free for us. And the guestbook was in with the prize. I just love the idea of having something nice to look at for the wishing tree/well, and then to put the notes in the book after.

And we do need stuff, but my mind is just blank, and like I said before, I was just asking so people could jog my mind. I.E. thank you cards etc.

I bought loads for ours . Top of my head
wedding dress and veil £50 (rrp was something like £1300-1400) sold veil for £25 after to a lady in Germany.kept dress.
6 bridesmaid dresses 2 alfred angelo ones £90 the pair and the 4 other ones where picked up individually under £50 at a guess.
glitzy secrets side tiara £15 (sold for £25 after)
    Faith bridal shoes £25
roll of voile type stuff we made runners (you just cut it and it does not fray) to dress the table tops and made swags for top table £7.49 and over half of it left!i think its something like 50m a roll.
old fashioned decs for hanging honeycomb balls and crepe paper streamers. £15 and sold 2 on after we didn't' use.
Job lot of sia leaf and wire garlands over 40! we made table decs with and wrapped around a pillar that had horrible tape marks on. £15 i think and must get round to reselling this year.
Bun creator foam things £7.50 for 5 for younger bridesmaids took me 10 minutes each to do all 4 very time saving. I dread to think the cost of a hairdresser to do the same with just pins.
Jewellery new but vintage style which i misplaced on the day and never wore £5 (lucky I had my past times set as backup).
I do stickers for shoes i put them on wonky ooops
bra marks & sparks one i was looking at instore £28 I paid £10 with tags.
2nd pair of shoes for evening very comfy silver wedge with Velcro strap £25 worn them loads since.

Artificial flowers i rejected and send back as they smelt fusty and seemed faded and frayed! bit drawn out took nearly a month bought fresh in the end. I dug and realised they had purchased over a year earlier and used the same picture from original listing. Another wedding dress was taking ages then i dug and realised i had been shilled. I googled a key phase from listing unique to it and realised they had sold it to themselves 3 times already. That was cached stuff. Asked for a refund as still had not be posted after 10 days. Bit of wrangling so opened a dispute and won. I also reported them for shilling. They could not believe i had worked out what they had done. I could see they had shilled loads of times so i reported everything i could see that they had done it on. I cannot stand shillers they are scum.

Some ways to search is by item your after look for newly listed first that's where a lot of the buy it now bargains can be found. Or by lowest cost plus postage. Use fat fingers i think its a .com but might be co.uk and find misspelled things. Take wedding out of the title and quite a lot extra pops up that's suitable.

I found my husband through ebay so i am very fond of it!
