WHSmith Till Vouchers

Bought a magazine today, and on my receipt the sales assistant scanned on 2 different money off vouchers. Only he never gave me them or put them in the bag with the magazine.
How pathetic.
Maybe it was because I declined their rubbish chocolate for a £1 add on sale at the till. Who knows.

Ive noticed the same, as long as i get the magazine im not fussed about the voucher not given to me.0

They do that to me all the time. I'm not bothered because I never use their vouchers but I do wonder if the staff are taking the "spares".Wedding 5th September 20150

The staff member probably has to scan the vouchers to show they have "given" them out, but most likely only got given a small number for his/her shift so doesn't give them out.
But then again, the WHSmiths till-vouchers are nearly always rubbish (£5 of a book you can get for cheaper in a supermarket even with the money knocked off, £5 off when you spend £20 on overpriced stationary).0 -
I bought 3 book sets at £5 each from smiths recently and was given £5 off when you spend £10 on books voucher with my reciept. I then took my purchases to the upstairs till and got a refund, then bought the same book sets again and used the voucher, so the 3 sets cost me a tenner!0

Are you sure? My OH works there and says the vouchers they give out aren't valid for the day they're given out on, but for a few days afterwards.0 -
yeah it was the same day, literally within 10 mins of purchasing. I remember it well cos my husband was waiting for me to come out of the store, and when I came out grinning he asked me what "cheap and skanky" tricks I'd been up to now. That's the term he uses for things I'd describe as bargains lol!0

Good for you but I'm guessing you wouldn't have got that one past my OH!!0

I've not been given the vouchers before. Never really understood or known why but not been too fussed as it means I'm not likely to be tempted back to buy something I don't want just because of the voucher.0

You might find this thread useful when someone posts the "welcoming" vouchers to the 'rewards' club
