Double glazing quote - one window

Hi guys,

I had Everest round yesterday to replace one single-glazed window with a double-glazed one.

They've quoted £590 for the window which is approx 60cm x 60cm.

Sounds pretty pricey to me, but I've got no knowledge of this sort of thing at all. What do you think?

It's a 1st floor window so there could be scaffolding problems. Apparently...

  • Yep Everest prices are very very high! Had a quote from them for some windows of around £4500 (excluding their pressure tactics discounts which brought it down to £2500...). I had four other quotes ranged from £600 to £1500. 'True' price is around half of Everests price.

Saying that Everest are a high quality window providers, so you pay for what you get.
  • They won't need scaffolding, it's done from inside.

We paid about 400 all-in for a window approx 100 x 80cm. That was from a local company. Ground floor though.
  • Thats not just EXPENSIVE thats Extortion. I Had a new UPVC Double glazed window fitted yesterday on the first floor for £288 Measuring 1850mm by 1222mm with one fixed unit and one opening unit. SHOP AROUND.
  • Hi everyone,

Just to let you know I've been shopping around and got a quote for £200 for the window and the fitting - nearly a third of the Everest quote!

Without spending anything yet, I feel like I've saved loads of cash!
  • Great news, well done!
