7 year old house - floorboarding loft

Options
I want to put some stuff into the loft but need to floor board it first. I have heard mixed infomation as to how much weight you can put up there (on a house thats 7 years old). Its mainly some old family stuff i want to shove up there.

If you post the size of the joists, the spacing between them and their span (length), I'm sure someone could calculate the safe loading for you.....
  • If the house is only 7yrs old its more than likely its a "Truss roof" and when the structural calculations were carried out before the roof was made the engineers would have allowed for a fair bit of weight from personal belonging etc so I wouldn't worry .

Its advisable to spread the weight over an area rather than putting any heavy objects all in one spot.. No need to worry about everyday stuff .......... Best thing to do is to lay some chipboard flooring down if there isn't any .
